Handmade Cards Made With Love

Made With Love – Using FineTec Pearl Colors

Hi everyone! I’m excited to show you some cards I’ve made for the Made With Love Design Team. Made With Love is a craft store in Singapore. If you’re living in Singapore, drop by the store! It’s at a mall called Somerset 313. All products showcased are available at the Made With Love store.
Today, I will be sharing some cards using the FineTec Pearl Colors. They are such a joy to play with. You can use it just like you use watercolours. I’m still new to them but I hope you like my ideas if you intend to use them for cardmaking. If you are curious, you can get the colors individually and try it out.
Card #1

To start, I’ve die cut Sizzix Friends Thinlits twice because when you stick them together, it’ll be a thicker piece so that it can pop-up a bit more of your cardbase.

I’ve activated Pearl Colors in Gold Pearl & Red Brown with water and start painting the die-cut. Red Brown was used to colour the flowers in the die-cut. To increase the opacity in some parts of the die-cut, I’ve painted over the parts twices or as many time as I wanted until I get the opacity that I was looking for. But in real life, you can still see the gold and shimmer on the lighter parts.
Here’s the finished card with some enamel dots to embellish.

 Card #2
For this card, I’ve die-cut the LOVE word using the Avery Elle Fill In The Blank die and the elephants using the Sizzix Baby Elephant Thinlits Dies. The elephant is from one die, just flip it over and you can have a mirror image. I’ve coloured the elephants and the background of the letters using Prima Watercolors. To pop up the word LOVE, I’ve using White Ranger Enamel.
I’ve used Pearl Colors in Gold Pearl to add a light wash of background. I like to do it as well with my watercolours but the Gold Pearl add the shimmer that matches the sequins.
Card #3
So this card was a little experiment for me. I love making rainbow background using the Prima Watercolors and I thought I’d mix it with Pearl Colors in Blue-Green to see how it works. On a clear sheet, I’ve put down the watercolours I want to use, next I’ve just mix it in with the Pearl Colors. Using the Blue-Green will alter the watercolours slightly but if you want only shine and no colour alteration, I would suggest getting a clear pearl colours or a white one.
I’ve Sizzix Thank You thinlits die traced very lightly with a pencil so that I can roughly know where my paint should go. I like to start my painting very light (more water) and add another layer after it has dried. This gives me a bit of control.
As you can see in the finished card below, when I tilt it to the side, you can see the Blue-Green shimmer showing through the colours.
Card #4
If you do a little search on instagram or anywhere else, you will find that FineTec Pearl Colors are mostly used for brush lettering or calligraphy. So I thought I’d write my own sentiment 🙂 Please excuse if my lettering doesn’t look so professional. Still learning!
I’ve started by drawing lines on the card base lightly to help me keep my word somewhat straight. I’ve chosen the Pearl Color in Gold because I thought it would go well with the rainbow sentiment that will go above it.
The rainbow letters comes from the same Avery Elle Fill in The Blank dies I’ve used and I’ve simply, coloured them using Prima Watercolors. The heart balloons are also from the Sizzix Baby Elephant die set.
To add some embellishment, I’ve added enamel dots to match the rainbow and splatter the same Gold Color I’ve used for the word “birthday”.
I hope you’ve enjoy these cards and till next time!
