Made With Love – Playing With Sizzix Thinlits

Hi everyone! I’m excited to show you some cards I’ve made for the Made With Love Design Team. Made With Love is a craft store in Singapore. If you’re living in Singapore, drop by the store in the Somerset 313 mall. All (if not, similar) products showcased are available at the Made With Love store.
Today, the focus materials are these 3 Sizzix Thinlits dies below. I’m using all of them with different ways I would add colour to them. I hope you’ll be inspired to try them for yourself!
Card #1
I’ve started with the Sizzix Thinlit Bird of Paradise. This elegant die makes me want to cover it with shiny Gold embossing powder. As you can see below, I’ve die-cut it 4 times. This is a great way to give dimension to your delicate diecuts without cutting small pieces of dimensional sticker. I’ve covered one of the birds with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder using VersaMark Ink.
To stick all of the birds on top of each other, I highly recommend using liquid glue. You’ll be able to move it a bit while the glue is still wet to align them perfectly. I’ve used Ranger Glossy Accent because it dries clear and it’s strong.
I’ve chosen to use this beautiful soft pink paper and sentiment banner from the KaiserCraft Sage & Grace Paper Pack. Oh yes, to bring the gold together, I’ve embossing a thin strip to border just the sides of the card base.
Card #2
I had a very strong feeling of wanting to make the feathers in rainbow colours. Using the Sizzix Thinlits Peacock die, I’ve cut everything once except for the feathers. I’ve tried to get 2 feathers per colour and
I’ve chosen to watercolour them with my Prima Marketing Watercolours. I’ve started by give the feathers a light wash of colour first and when it’s dry, I went back with the same colour to get some darker parts.
After that it’s all about assembling the feathers and peacock. The sentiment was just my own writing (still practising!). I hope you like this card because I think this one is my favourite.
Card #3
I wanted to make a somewhat monochrome card and I’ve used the Sizzix Thinlits Antique Doily die for this card. I love the intricate design of this die and I’ve die-cut it 3 times because I’m going to cut them in half and make 2 cards (Card #4) out of these.
I’ve picked this soft pink paper from the DCWV Shimmer Cardstack and stick it on the card base. Next, I stacked my half cut doilies on top and next to each other, concentrating at bottom of the card. I wanted to leave a clear space for the sentiment which are alphabet stickers. I’ve used the Ranger White Enamel Accents to drop white dots which I think looks likes pearls.
And to add even more sparkles to the card, I’ve just brush over the doilies using the Wink of Stella (Clear).
Card #4
So the other half of the doilies from before, I’ve blended in some colours using Ranger Distress Inks. I’ve combined Mustard Seed + Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick + Barn Door and Broken China + Seedless Preserves. Stuck them all to one side and added those white dots using the Ranger Enamel Accent again.
So that’s all the four cards for you! I hope you’ve enjoyed them and if you have questions please drop me an e-mail or leave a comment. Have a great week!
